The Tiger Shirt

Peanut has a beloved article of clothing that if given the opportunity to wear it everyday she would. I have been forced to hide it from her so she does not wear it 24 hours a day causing it to stand up on its own.

One day, I was cleaning out the girls’ closet making room for winter clothes. I came across a Cincinnati Bengals cheerleading outfit that we had from last year. We never got to wear it, so I pulled it out and decided to see if it still fit. Peanut happened to be standing by watching me go through this chore, so I pulled the uniform over her head and realized that it was rather short. It didn’t look like a dress anymore, but a shirt.

Black Friday…a term created by retailers marking the start of the holiday shopping season. It is the Friday after Thanksgiving and a day that some people look forward to while retail employees dread. Thus, the name Black Friday. Before the turkey is digested on Thanksgiving day, there are circulars and advertisements all over – the newspapers, TV and radio all have them from retailers that are touting they have the best deals out there. People will get up early or stay up all night long so they can venture out before dawn to catch the best deals.

Hablas Ingles?

In today’s world, our cultures are so mixed that it is typical to meet people who speak various languages and come from all walks of life. Out in the world, this is rather common. However most people wouldn’t think that by having children they would experience this within their own home.

Yet there is a nation of people who are known to infiltrate many households especially if there is a sippy cup present or Dora the Explorer is on the tube. They speak a little English and more of their own language, they are somewhat moody yet very cute and they are determined. Oh yeah, they are determined. They know how to get whatever they want and they will. stop. at. nothing. to. get. it.

Nurturing Creativity

Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” I think that I am going to take this quote to heart. You see, my girls LOVE to create. They love to draw pictures and use crayons to scribble and color everything – sometimes things [...]

The Grand Old Bookcase

Feb 27th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Latest Post

I have been sitting here looking over all the books propped up on the shelves. When we first walked through this house, the large built in bookcase that takes up an entire wall completely caught our eyes. You see, we love books. All different types of books. And to think that we could have a permanent, grand bookcase in our living room that we could fill up with all sorts of precious words really sealed the deal for us. We talked about filling it completely with books and adding to it every year as we collected more books so that in time it would turn into a family library.
